The ranking helps to identify and bring together the best innovators in the region, be they entrepreneurs, artists, new media editors and publishers, activists, scientists and politicians. The goal of the ranking is to focus attention on the innovative potential of Central and Eastern Europe and to promote the entrepreneurial spirit in our society. The programme is carried out in collaboration with the Financial Times, Google and the International Visegrád Fund.
"There are international rankings that list the smartest, the wealthiest and the most influential. Res Publica wants to focus on those people from Central and Eastern Europe who have a capacity to be there. They have the courage to think big, bring new ideas and use their skills. We are confident that these people and their ideas will be shaping or are already shaping the world as we know it," explains Wojciech Przybylski, Res Publica's Editor-In-Chief.
Wroclaw residents were recognised in the "New Europe 100 Challengers" ranking:
"New Europe 100 Challengers", Business
Michał Sadowski, the founder and President of Brand24 S.A., a company specialising in web monitoring and one of the winners of Aulery 2012 Awards and Ekomersy 2012 Awards. He was named the Startup Founder of the Year in the competition for the Next Web Startup Awards 2013. The author of best-selling "Rewolucja Social Media", he works as a computer programmer and a graphic artist. He is also known as a blogger and Internet commentator. Wroclaw-based Brand24 has become a partner of the campaign to promote education among American teenagers. Brand24 is also one of five Polish companies to foster Europe's development in technology as part of the European Tech Allinace (EUTA). Michał Sadowski was also listed in the 30 Creative Wroclaw Residents Rankingby wroclaw.pl.

"New Europe 100 Challengers", Games
Grzegorz Miechowski, President of 11 bit studios and a Wroclaw University of Technology graduate. He has been designing games since the early 1990s, when he set up one of Poland's first game development studios. He has been running a game production studio for a number of years. He is also one of the founders of 11 bit studios, a Polish company dealing in computer and board game design, publishing and distribution. "New Europe 100 Challengers", Science
Filip Granek, PhD in Engineering, a researcher at the Nanotechnology Department of the Wroclaw EIT+ Research Centre. Filip Granek has been recognised in the "New Europe 100 Challengers" ranking for his research on photovoltaic cells made of nano materials. A winner of the prestigious "Lider" programme by the National Centre for Research and Development, he is also one of the fourteen scientists to be recognised by the Foundation for Polish Science as part of the "Homing Plus" programme.
